UBC Canadian Indigenous Science and Engineering Society (.caISES), in partnership with Science World, organized and promoted an Indigenous STEM Day at Science World on January 15, 2020. Indigenous youth from the local community came out in the morning for an exciting day of STEM learning. In the evening current UBC students, Indigenous secondary school students, and Indigenous STEM professionals were treated to an inspiring presentation from Dr. Nadine Caron, followed by a roundtable discussion around increasing Indigenous representation in STEM fields. Participants had the chance to briefly describe their organizations and the initiatives they are working on.
